Why Choose an ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Certified Mobile Provider?

January 28th is Data Privacy Day, an internationally recognized day that raises awareness and promotes privacy and data protection best practices. In acknowledgment of this important day, we would like to share some insights on how mGage worked last year to achieve ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification in an effort to better protect our customers.

A widely recognized international standard, ISO 27001 outlines best practices for information security and data management systems. The ISO 27001 certification requirements are set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). In order to obtain certification, mGage underwent a significant audit processes involving multiple levels and departments to demonstrate responsible data management at all points within the organization.

 The Process

If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that we can’t predict the future. This realization renewed our commitment to the safety and security of our customer data. The pandemic, however, made an already rigorous audit process even more complicated. For the scope of our certification, we normally would have traveled to each office for in-person preparation and audit. This would include our US-based offices in New York, Los Angeles, Bloomington, Atlanta, as well as those outside the US such as the Dominican Republic, and the UK. Instead, the process was entirely virtual.

Despite challenges, we were thrilled to pass our audit with zero findings. We felt that pursuing ISO/IEC 27001:2013 was an important step to reaffirm our commitment to continue pursuing the highest information security standards to protect customers.

What Does It Mean for Customers?

For customers, this certification signifies that we have proven our commitment and ability to safely handle their data. We are aware of the responsibility they entrust us with when using our platform to send messages to their customers.

Certification demonstrates that mGage can effectively…

  • Protect customer information
  • Facilitate the safe and secure exchange of information
  • Minimize risk exposure
  • Manage and resolve internal security risks

As cybersecurity threats rise and data breaches grow increasingly common, organizations must prioritize security and resiliency. At mGage, we stress the importance of each individual’s responsibility in maintaining data privacy standards. We ensure that everyone is aware of the steps they must take each day to maintain these standards. We are proud to have earned a recognized accreditation that demonstrates the results of our ongoing efforts.
